For a larger source, require one non-empty unique source_ref per row across the complete source, report and exclude duplicate/missing refs while keeping unrelated valid rows, and split the remainder into deterministic chunks under 250 rows and 1 MiB. Before previewing any chunk, inventory all audience definitions and effective assignments across the complete source. Require one identical definition per stable audience ref, at most 100 distinct audience refs, and at most 10,000 unique (source_ref, effective audience ref) assignment edges across the logical import; do not preview any chunk if the complete-source inventory exceeds either limit. After the inventory passes, preview every chunk before applying any chunk. Combine every returned identity_refs value and resolved lead_id into whole-source transitive components; do not apply if one component spans chunks. Complete results are limited to 128 KiB; on arguments_too_large or result_too_large, repartition into smaller deterministic chunks and preview the complete source again.

Omitting adaptation_target makes only that submitted field Default; it does not hide existing adaptations from get. Sparse adaptations inherit missing fields from Default. adaptation_active=false performs a recoverable reset, true explicitly reactivates, and omission preserves an existing adaptation's lifecycle state. This creates history but does not approve.
