PERMANENTLY delete a category (WordPress cannot trash terms — deletion is immediate). Posts in it are NOT deleted; they fall back to the default category (usually 'Uncategorized'). Get the id from list_categories. DESTRUCTIVE — pass confirm=true to proceed; without it you get a preview.

Disconnect a site from WP Agent by clearing its stored Application-Password credentials. DESTRUCTIVE — pass confirm=true to proceed. The WordPress site itself is untouched, and if the site is also used by WPWriter that connection is preserved (only the keyless credentials are removed). NOTE: the freed site slot enters the plan's swap cooldown (per pricing) — reconnecting the SAME site stays free anytime, but the slot can't be reused for a DIFFERENT site until the cooldown ends.

disconnect_site

Generate an ORIGINAL AI image FOR AN EXISTING POST OR PAGE and set it as that post's featured image. This is a step of authoring a post, not a standalone image generator: `post_id` is REQUIRED and must be a real post/page on the site. Use it when the user wants artwork specific to their content or carrying their brand; for generic illustrative photos prefer the free `search_stock_photos`. Generates ONE image and waits (~15-30s); the returned media id means it is really in the library. THE ONE-IMAGE RULE: a featured image alone is often NOT shown inside the article (theme-dependent), so also EMBED the returned URL in the post body with `patch_post_content` — wrap the <img> in <a href='THE_IMAGE_URL'> so any lightbox plugin gives click-to-zoom. Prefer a WIDE size ('1792x1024') for a hero. Images come from the user's own connected provider key when they have one, otherwise from their image credit balance or their free trial allowance. This tool never sells anything and never quotes a price.

generate_featured_image

Read the active theme's Additional CSS (the Customizer → Additional CSS box). Read this BEFORE update_custom_css so you can edit the existing rules instead of replacing them blindly. Requires the WP Agent Connector plugin. Large CSS is returned in pages (use offset to continue).

get_custom_css

Read a post's editable title and raw HTML content from WordPress, so you (the assistant) can reason over the real content before editing or optimizing it. Returns the raw HTML exactly as stored. Works for posts AND pages — use the post_id from list_posts / search_posts / list_pages. Long posts are returned in pages — if the result ends with a 'Partial content' note, call again with the suggested offset to read the rest.

get_post_content

Analyze ONE post's or page's on-page SEO and content quality (for a whole-site gap list, use get_posts_seo_overview). Returns 0-100 scores for the SEO title, meta description, URL slug, featured image, content length, heading structure, structured data and internal links, plus content-quality scores and concrete improvement suggestions. Read this before optimizing, then act with update_post_seo / patch_post_content. (SEO title/description scores need the WP Agent Connector plugin to read them; without it the content scores still work.)

get_post_seo_analysis

Scan recent published posts and report each one's SEO gaps in a table — whether it has an SEO title, meta description, focus keyword, and featured image — so you can spot what to fix across the site. Then drill into a single post with get_post_seo_analysis, or fix one with update_post_seo. (Reading SEO meta needs the WP Agent Connector plugin; featured-image coverage is shown even without it.)

get_posts_seo_overview

Read the title and content of one saved revision, so you can compare it to the current post or pull back an earlier version (paste it into replace_post_content to restore). Get the revision_id from list_revisions. Long revisions are returned in pages — if the result ends with a 'Partial content' note, call again with the suggested offset.

get_revision

Get a verbose snapshot of a connected WordPress site so you know exactly what you're working with before acting: WordPress/PHP version, active theme, which SEO plugin is active (Yoast/Rank Math/AIOSEO), whether WooCommerce is present, multisite, and the installed plugins. Call this right after connect_site so you never guess which SEO plugin or theme is in play. Requires the WP Agent Connector plugin — without it, use get_site_settings + list_plugins for a basic picture.

get_site_overview

Read the site's general settings — title, tagline, admin email, timezone, date/time format, posts-per-page, language.

get_site_settings

Show the user's current WP Agent plan and live usage: posts used/remaining this month (posts are the only plan limit; words are unlimited), AI image balance, bonus credits, site slots used/included, and subscription status (renewal or cancellation date). USE THIS whenever the user asks how many posts they have left, what plan they're on, how many sites they can connect, or anything about usage/limits/billing status. Present the numbers to the user as-is.

get_usage

Install a plugin by its slug (e.g. 'wordpress-seo' for Yoast) — only from the official, publicly vetted WordPress.org directory, never from arbitrary URLs. Because this adds code to the site it always previews first and requires confirm=true. By default the plugin is installed but left INACTIVE (set activate=true to activate on install). The user's host must allow plugin installs.

List the site's users/authors — id, name, and slug. Use an author id with update_post_author or when creating posts via rest_api.

list_authors

List a site's post categories — id, name, and post count. Use ids when creating/updating posts, or create_post which takes category names directly.

list_categories

List comments on the site — id, author, status, the comment text, and which post it's on. status filter: 'hold' (pending moderation), 'approve' (default), 'spam', or 'trash'. Optionally filter by a post id.

list_comments

List items in the site's media library — id, title, URL, alt text, and type. Use a media id with set_featured_image / update_media, or to embed an existing image. Returns the newest first; pass offset to page beyond the first batch, or search to find by filename/title.

list_media

List the items in a navigation menu (in order) — id, label, URL. Get menu_id from list_menus.

list_menu_items

List the theme's menu locations (header, footer, etc.) and which menu is assigned to each. A menu only appears on the site once it's assigned to a location. Use this after create_menu to find where to put it. Note: block / full-site-editing themes register NO classic locations — that's normal, not an error.

list_menu_locations

List the site's navigation menus — id, name, slug. Use a menu id with list_menu_items / add_menu_item.

list_menus

List the site's pages (not posts) — id, title, status, URL. Use the ids with the edit/SEO tools, same as posts.

list_pages

List the plugins installed on the site — identifier, name, version, and whether each is active. Use the identifier (e.g. 'akismet/akismet') with activate_plugin / deactivate_plugin.

list_plugins

List recent posts on a connected WordPress site — id, title, status, date, and URL. Queries WordPress directly. Use the ids with get_post_content, patch_post_content, update_post_seo, etc.

list_posts

List the saved revisions of a post or page — id, date, and author. WordPress keeps a revision on every save, so use this to see the edit history, then get_revision to read a specific older version.

list_revisions

List the WordPress sites connected to this WP Agent account. Returns each site's name, URL, and site_id. Use the site_id with every other tool. Keyless: WP Agent never generates content itself — you (the assistant) write the content and SEO, and these tools execute it against the user's WordPress.

list_tags

Moderate a comment: approve it, send it back to pending (hold), mark it spam, or move it to trash. Get the comment id from list_comments. spam/trash are recoverable.

moderate_comment

Surgically edit a post or page: replace an EXACT snippet of its current HTML with new HTML, leaving everything else untouched. Put the exact text to change in find_text and the replacement in replace_text. YOU DO NOT NEED THE WHOLE ARTICLE IN CONTEXT — this tool re-reads the post server-side and matches find_text there, so you only ever need the snippet you are changing. If you no longer have the text, re-read just the part you need with get_post_content (use offset to jump to it) — never re-read a long post in full just to make an edit. To revise an article THROUGHOUT, call this repeatedly, once per section. That is the intended way; do not fall back to replace_post_content for a multi-part edit. This is the safe way to edit — no full rewrite. Fails if find_text isn't found, or isn't unique unless you set replace_all.

patch_post_content

Publish a draft/pending post or page — makes it live publicly. (To schedule for later, use schedule_post.) Posts with an empty body are blocked (pass allow_empty=true only for an intentionally empty page, e.g. a blog Posts page). Outward-facing — pass confirm=true to proceed; without it you get a preview.

publish_post

Advanced read-only access for the rare WordPress REST endpoint the dedicated tools don't cover (revisions, custom post types, block patterns, settings, etc.). GET only — it can never change the site. path is relative to the REST root, e.g. '/wp/v2/types' or '/wp/v2/comments?per_page=5'. Tip: GET '/' lists the site's namespaces. Prefer the dedicated tools whenever one exists.

rest_api_read

Remove an item from a navigation menu. DESTRUCTIVE — by default this previews what would be removed; pass confirm=true to actually remove it. Get the item id from list_menu_items.

remove_menu_item

Replace a post or page's ENTIRE body with new HTML. Use this for a full rewrite. For small surgical edits, prefer patch_post_content (safer). Only use this when you are holding the complete new body. If you do not have the full article in context, DO NOT re-read the whole post to get here — use patch_post_content instead, section by section. DESTRUCTIVE (overwrites the whole body) — pass confirm=true to proceed; without it you get a preview.

replace_post_content

Schedule a post or page to publish automatically at a future time. publish_at MUST be an ISO 8601 datetime WITH a timezone offset so the moment is unambiguous, e.g. 2026-07-01T09:00:00-04:00 (use the site's local offset) or 2026-07-01T13:00:00Z (UTC). A bare time without an offset is rejected. Posts with an empty body are blocked (pass allow_empty=true only for an intentionally empty page). Outward-facing (it goes live automatically) — pass confirm=true to proceed. If the user asks for RECURRING auto-posting (e.g. 'post every Monday'), there is no server-side recurrence — offer to write a BATCH of posts now and schedule each across the coming weeks with this tool, or point them at their AI client's own scheduled-tasks feature to run a prompt on a cadence.

Search a connected WordPress site's posts by keyword (title + content). Returns id, title, status, date, URL.

search_posts

Search free high-quality stock photos (external Unsplash library — NOT the site's own media; for that use list_media). This is the way to get images for a post — WP Agent does not generate AI images; it finds real photos. Returns image URLs with photographer attribution. Pick one and call add_media_from_url with its url to store it in the media library, then set_featured_image or embed it. Use specific queries ('modern kitchen workspace' beats 'kitchen'). Always credit the photographer.
