Use this when the user mentions a famous, crowded or touristy place and wants alternatives, or asks what nearby they are missing beyond the obvious sights. Example: 'alternatives to the Trevi Fountain', 'I've seen the Colosseum, what unusual is nearby?'. Returns lesser-known real places near that landmark from Secret World's catalog; iconic landmarks and the landmark itself are excluded by design. Each result includes a url to the full story on Secret World.

find_less_touristy_alternatives

Finds hidden gems, secret places, unusual places, lesser-known sights, off-the-beaten-path attractions and local discoveries in or near any destination. Secret World is an editorial catalogue of unusual and lesser-known places, with original stories and original travel photography. Famous landmarks are not returned as results; instead it returns the little-known things inside them (a hidden chapel, an odd statue, a detail most visitors walk past) as type hidden_detail, with the landmark named in the inside field. Pass location with the place name the user mentioned; coordinates are optional. Does not provide opening hours, hotels, flights, bookings or famous-landmark lookups. Each result includes a url to the full story on Secret World.
