PuraFi turns a conversation into a finished expense report. Drop receipts into chat as photos, PDFs, or plain descriptions and PuraFi keeps a running list: merchant, date, category, and amount, organized by month or trip. Describe a drive ("office to the Hartford client and back") and PuraFi figures out the actual driving distance and applies the current IRS mileage rate, including the mid-year rate changes your spreadsheet missed. When you're ready, PuraFi puts everything into a polished PDF report, plus files your finance team can open straight in Excel or QuickBooks. It double-checks every line for the things that get reports bounced back: missing details, forgotten attendees, duplicate charges. Then it sends the report to your approver with a one-click review link. No account or app needed on their end. After you send it, PuraFi tracks where your report stands (pending, approved, or rejected) and counts how many days you've been waiting, so asking "how much am I owed?" always has a real answer. Saves a NEW receipt to the user's expense ledger. Call ONCE per new expense the user shares (photo, PDF, screenshot, pasted text, or description) — never to display the ledger (that's my_receipts) and never to correct an existing entry (that's update_expense). An exact duplicate (same merchant, date, amount) is refused unless allow_duplicate is set; if the duplicate call carries an image and the existing entry has none, the image is attached to the existing entry instead. If this host cannot pass file attachments as tool parameters, read the receipt image yourself and pass the extracted fields — omit receipt_image entirely. Requires a linked account.
add_receipt
Deletes a DRAFT expense report the user no longer wants. The expenses inside it are NOT destroyed — they go straight back to the unsubmitted ledger, so the user can fix something and rebuild. Also works on reports the user marked completed by hand. Reports already sent for approval (submitted/approved/paid) are frozen for audit and cannot be deleted. Use my_reimbursement_status to find the report id. Requires a linked account.

Builds a clean expense report (PDF or XLSX) from the user's unsubmitted ledger and returns a download link, plus CSV, XLSX, and QuickBooks-ready CSV artifacts. Scope it with `trip` or a date range when the user asks for a specific trip/month/period — unscoped, it includes EVERYTHING unsubmitted (say so if the ledger holds unrelated items; my_receipts shows what's there). Expenses outside the scope stay in the ledger for a later report. Safe to call again after adding expenses: an existing draft in scope is absorbed into the rebuilt report (never duplicated), and calling with nothing new returns the same draft unchanged. make_my_expense_report
The money arrived — closes an approved (or manually-completed) report as PAID and stops its days-owed counter. Call when the user says they got reimbursed. Defaults to the most recent approved/completed report. Requires a linked account.
mark_reimbursed
Returns who this user is and how they file expenses: emails, ledger counts, AND their saved setup — default approver, employee ID / department / cost center, and whether their company requires a receipt for every expense. CALL THIS EARLY in any expense session so you use what they've already told us instead of asking again; `setup_missing` lists what's still worth asking once. Requires a linked account.
my_account
Shows the user's whole expense picture in one full-screen card: unsubmitted total, money owed to them, reports awaiting review, the full unsubmitted ledger and every report with its status. Read-only — nothing is changed. Use when the user asks for an overview, “where do I stand”, “show me everything”, “open my dashboard”, or wants to see reports and expenses together rather than one list. Only reports that are awaiting review or whose link expired can be recalled; once approved, rejected or paid a decision has been made and the report is frozen — export a corrected one instead. recall_report
Shows every report's status (draft / submitted / approved / rejected / expired / paid) with a days-waiting counter for anything pending. Call when the user asks where their money is. When they say the money arrived, follow with mark_reimbursed. Requires a linked account.
my_reimbursement_status
Submits a drafted report: registers it with the approval service (14-day magic link) and emails the approver the PDF + CSV with a one-click Review & Approve button. THIS SENDS REAL MAIL AND CANNOT BE RECALLED — pass `report_id` whenever you know which report the user means (make_my_expense_report returns it). Omitting it only works when exactly one draft exists and it was just built; otherwise the tool returns status `needs_target` with the candidate reports — show the user their titles, totals and ages, ask which one, then call again with that report_id. Re-sending an already-submitted report (typo'd address) also requires an explicit report_id, because it invalidates the link the approver already has. Requires a linked account.
submit_my_report
Updates an expense already in the user's unsubmitted ledger. Use when the user corrects or changes an expense they added (amount, date, category, purpose, attendees…) — or shares a receipt image for an expense that's already in the ledger (pass receipt_image; never re-add it). Expenses already in a report are frozen. For mileage entries only the date and purpose can change — re-log the drive to change the route. Requires a linked account.
update_expense
THE way to change any account setting from chat — everything the web settings page can edit. Use it whenever the user says things like “change my manager/approver to …”, “my finance contact is …”, “send my reports to … from now on”, “update my employee ID / department / cost center”, “my company requires receipts”, or anything phrased as changing their settings, profile or defaults. default_recipient is the approver (manager or finance) every future report is submitted to — it goes live immediately. employee ID, department and cost center print on every report header. Company categories and stated rules are kept as remembered notes only: do not promise they change how reports render or enforce anything — today they don't. Pass ONLY the fields being changed; the rest are preserved. my_account reads the current values back. Requires a linked account.
