Find movies currently playing in theaters near a location. Use this for requests like "what's playing near me," "movies near 90210," or "is [movie] playing near Beverly Hills." Latitude and longitude are auto-detected from user location if not provided, or approximate coordinates derived from the user's ZIP code, city, neighborhood, or landmark are acceptable. Returns movies currently in theatrical release with active showtimes at nearby theaters. Returned movie IDs can be used with Get Movie Details or showtime search tools. Use showtime tools when the user needs specific screening times or dates.

FindMoviesPlayingNearALocation

Find showtimes at one or more specific theaters, grouped by date and theater. Requires valid theater IDs obtained from a prior tool call (e.g. GetTheaterDetails or FindTheatersNearALocation), or use the theaterName parameter to resolve a theater by name. Do NOT guess or fabricate theater IDs — always resolve them from another tool first or provide theaterName. This is useful for requests like "show me what's playing at these theaters today" or "showtimes this weekend for these theaters." Optionally filter results to specific movie IDs.

Find showtimes for a specific movie at theaters near a location, grouped by date and theater. Use this for requests like "show me showtimes for [movie] near me today" or "what time is [movie] playing tomorrow." Latitude and longitude are auto-detected from user location if not provided, or approximate coordinates derived from the user's ZIP code, city, neighborhood, or landmark are acceptable. Either movieId or movieName must be provided.

FindTheatersNearALocation

Retrieve detailed information for a single movie using either a Fandango movie ID or a movie title. Either movieId or movieName must be provided. Returns structured movie data such as synopsis, runtime, MPAA rating, release date, genres, poster, directors, cast, crew, trailer, studio, and Rotten Tomatoes scores. When available, this tool may return a canonical movie details widget that should be displayed instead of text. If both movieId and movieName are provided, movieId takes precedence. When movieName matches multiple titles, the tool returns the best match based on relevance scoring.

GetMovieDetails

Retrieve detailed information for a single theater using either a theater ID or a theater name. Either theaterId or theaterName must be provided. Returns structured theater data such as address, chain, phone, geo coordinates, ticketing availability, showtime availability, and amenities. If both theaterId and theaterName are provided, theaterId takes precedence. When theaterName matches multiple theaters, the tool returns the best match, optionally using latitude and longitude to improve local relevance.
