BranchDeploy connects ChatGPT to your existing Azure DevOps deployment workflow. Preview a work item deployment, confirm the resolved ticket, branch, environment and pipeline, then queue the deployment only if BranchDeploy’s server-side rules allow it. BranchDeploy does not let ChatGPT deploy arbitrary code. It resolves linked Azure Repos branches and pull requests from the work item, checks the configured environment and branch rules, and requires explicit confirmation before a deployment starts. Deploys an Azure DevOps work item — exactly like the deploy button on the ticket. Give it only the work item ID. BranchDeploy resolves everything else server-side: its project, its linked branch, and the pipeline + rules configured for the target environment. You never choose or pass a branch, pipeline, or environment ID — the AI cannot deploy an arbitrary branch or bypass the configured branch rules. - environmentName: pass ONLY if the project has more than one environment and the user named which one. Omit it when there is a single environment (the default). - branchName: pass ONLY to disambiguate when a work item has multiple linked branches; it must be one of the branches already linked to the work item. The tool refuses if the environment is not configured, the branch is not allowed by the environment's rules, or no branch is linked. For assistant clients: call preview_deploy first when available, show the returned summary to the user, and only call this tool after explicit user confirmation. IMPORTANT: Confirm with the user before calling. Present the work item ID and title, the resolved environment, and wait for an explicit "yes"/"deploy it". Never call this speculatively or on ambiguous instruction.
Read-only. Returns recent deployments for a project. Use this when the user asks what has been deployed recently, or to check whether a specific work item has already been deployed. This tool does not start, modify, approve, cancel, or trigger a deployment.
Read-only. Returns the current status of a specific deployment by its ID. Use this after calling deploy to check whether the deployment was accepted. This tool does not start, modify, approve, cancel, or trigger a deployment.
Read-only. Lists the deployment environments configured for a project, by name. Use it to show a user which environments exist. You do NOT need this to deploy: the deploy tool resolves a work item's project and default environment on its own. This tool does not start, modify, approve, cancel, or trigger a deployment.
Read-only. Previews a deployment for an Azure DevOps work item without starting it. The server resolves the linked project, work item title, linked branch, configured environment, pipeline, credential permissions, and branch rules. Use this before calling deploy when the assistant needs to show the user what will happen and ask for confirmation. This tool does not start, modify, approve, cancel, or trigger a deployment.
